Tsitsikamma 10/7/07 –
I’ve been in Africa for a week now, and it seems like much longer as we have done so much. Last night I was awaken by the sound of rain on our tin rooftop and lied there enjoying the sound. It was a good nights sleep and I am feeling a bit stiff and sore still, but generally good.

It was still raining when I woke up at 7 AM! Whew, late for me. I was able to do some gentle yoga this morning and moved some of the stiffness out. It felt wonderful! The internet is down, but I used the computer to type out my day blog from yesterday, and then enjoyed a lovely breakfast of greek yogurt, nuts, granola and lots of fresh fruit! Delicious.

Our group set off for a wagon trip through the forest, and I choose to stay by the fire. I read a bit, sipped tea and iced by backside. It was a lovely quiet, reflecting and nurturing time for me.

At 1 we headed of for the National Forest, with the rain we were treated to a exciting show of waves against the rocks, and a torrential flow down the mountainside into the sea. Billie and I braved the weather, rolled up our pants and took off our shoes and soaks; as we HAD to put our feet into the Indian Ocean. Once I was out there I walked the beach a bit and enjoyed the sounds, smell and drama of the day.

Our lunch was at the park restaurant, beachside which was beautiful. Then we came back to our Inn, where I enjoyed the fire again. It was a quiet rainy day for the most part, which I think we all needed. Today the sunshines down upon us again with cool (50 degrees) dry air. I took a morning stroll through the village and into the forest a bit this morning.

We leave after breakfast for lunch in Port Elizabeth and then on to the Game Reserve for 3 days. Time to hunt the Big 5 (lions, elephants, leopards, buffalo, and rhinos) with our cameras!
